a little about me!
I was eight years old when I asked my father “What do you call a scientist that studies the ocean?” and discovered I wanted to become a marine biologist. It was a fascination I acquired with my own imagination, spending summers creating test tubes out of old camera film canisters and collecting algae at the beach. I am a marine ecologist who loves researching coral reefs, but I am also an educator. Whether it be a Boston charter school, or a remote Fijian village, I have had the opportunity to educate communities far more diverse than myself. These experiences have challenged me by pushing me outside my comfort zone but have also inspired me. I love that I don't have to choose if I want to pursue education or research, because I now see that one does not exist without the other.
